KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –
Brianna Lewis scored the go-ahead goal with 18 minutes remaining, helping Oregon Tech outlast Rocky Mountain, 3-1, at the OIT Soccer Field.
The Lady Owls (3-4-3, 2-3-2 CCC) picked up their first home win of the season, thanks to an offensive attack that held a 13-9 edge in total shots – including two cleared off the goal line and another off a post.
Rocky (2-6, 1-4) squared the match in the 68th minute off a corner kick, as Tara Appleby found the head of Mila Allison in the middle of the box – but Tech answered quickly.
Shalynai Naputi played a pretty thru-ball in space to Lewis, who hammered a shot into the left corner of the goal for the 2-1 advantage.
Tech got a much-needed insurance goal in the 87th minute, as a Naputi shot was blocked by the RMC defense, right to the charging
Kayla Ness, touching home the first goal of her Lady Owl career.
OIT had two chances early in the match, as a 10-yard shot from
Kiana Jacobson was kicked off the goal line by the Bears defense, while a header from
Karly White was headed off the line. In the 31st minute, the Owls were able to break through – as a cross from Naputi was deflected into the Rocky goal by a central defender for an own goal.
The Lady Owls will have the rest of the weekend off, preparing for a long trip to Montana for games next weekend at Carroll and Providence.
