Lady Owls Drop 1-0 Road Match at Carroll College

HELENA, Mont. – Emily Funseth converted a penalty kick early in the second half and Carroll College withstood a late offensive barrage from Oregon Tech to secure a 1-0 victory at Nelson Stadium.

The Fighting Saints (9-1-2, 6-1-1 CCC) remained in second place in the Cascade Conference table with the victory, despite OIT holding an 11-10 edge in total shots.

After a scoreless opening half, Carroll took advantage of a foul from behind just inside the box – with Funseth converting the 50th minute chance from the penalty spot for the 1-0 lead.

The Lady Owls (3-5-3, 2-4-2) put pressure on the defense – taking six shots in the final 13 minutes. Brianna Lewis just missed a drive left of the far post in the 85th minute, with Tech's best chance, a 15-yard left-footed dart from Miranda Valle that banged off the cross bar with less than four minutes to play.

Sydni Nakamura had three saves for OIT in the loss, while Maria Ackerman posted three saves for the Saints in the clean sheet.

Tech closes out their Montana road swing tomorrow with a 3:30 p.m. match-up at the University of Providence.
