KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Goals from
Ryan Pearson and
Dylan Nakagawa inside the final three minutes erased a Rocky Mountain lead, lifting Oregon Tech to a wild 3-2 victory at the OIT Soccer Field.
The Battlin' Bears (4-4-2, 2-4 CCC) took a 2-1 lead in the 83rd minute, as Igor Soares drove home a rebound after a flurry of attempts inside the 6-yard-box – but the Montana side was unable to hold off the hosts.
OIT (6-3-2, 4-2-1) drew even at the start of the 88th minute, as
Andrew Pasang played a ball into the middle of the box, finding the head of Pearson amongst a trio of RMC defenders, touching home a shot into the left corner of the net.
Playing with emotion, the Owls tallied the game winner with less than a minute to play.
Brock Rideout touched a pass just inside the 18 to Pasang, who slotted a pass to a charging Nakagawa, who beat Bears keeper Stefan Schenk to the far post.
RMC finished with a 14-12 edge in shots, with Tech attempting three of the four corner kicks.
Rocky struck first late in the first half, as Liam Pearce looped a long throw-in into the area, deflected by OIT keeper
Ryan Solis to the foot of Angel Mange, who touched a shot that could not be kept out of the goal by a charging Owls defender.
The score would remain 1-0 until the 74th minute, when following a defensive breakdown by the Bears at midfield, Pasang unleashed a 50-yard run, culminating with a left-footed 15-yard blast for the equalizer.
The win for the Owls was their third-straight against Rocky.
OIT returns to action on Sunday, hosting Walla Walla at 12 p.m.
