KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech celebrated their lone senior,
Brooke Cassidy, in the final home match of 2023 at Danny Miles Court, as Cassidy and the Lady Owls rolled to a 3-set victory over Evergreen State.
The Lady Owls (12-15, 10-10 CCC) got back to the .500 mark in Cascade Conference play with the 25-20, 25-18, 25-21 win over the Geoducks, completing the season sweep of head coach
Alexis Garrison's alma mater.
Cassidy, who was honored in a post-match celebration, had 21 assists and five digs in her 100th match in an OIT unform.
The Geoducks (3-20, 3-17) had leads in all three sets – including a 17-15 edge in Set 1 – before a
Molly Grace kill capped a 4-0 run to give Tech the lead. A Cassidy ace pushed the margin to 22-19, with kills from Grace and
Savanna Sterck ending the set.
TESC had control in Set 2, grabbing a 13-9 lead – but OIT erupted in a big way.
Aleksen Thayer had consecutive kills and two block assists, with Grace adding two kills, part of a 13-1 run that handed the hosts the win.
OIT trailed 11-9 in Set 3, but Sterck powered home three kills in a 9-1 run that put the match away.
Grace led all players with 12 kills and 12 digs, Sterck had 11 kills, with
Kate Hicks finishing with six kills and five blocks.
Kaley Whalen paced OIT with 21 digs.
Andee Nelson had six kills for the Geoducks, who finished with more hitting errors (26) than kills (23).
Tech closes out the regular-season next weekend with matches at Bushnell and Corban.
