GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Two goals in the first 11 minutes of the match set the tone for the Oregon Tech men's soccer team, as the Hustlin' Owls capped a long road trip to Montana with a convincing 6-0 shutout of the University of Providence at Argo Field.
Dalton Rideout scored a pair of goals and
DeShone Myles added a goal and an assist, as the Hustlin' Owls (8-3-3, 6-2-2 CCC) ran their unbeaten streak to three.
OIT opened the scoring in the tenth minute, as
Brandon Donat played a cross from the right side into the area, with
Rosendo Juarez-Flores heading home his fifth goal of the season. Less than 90 seconds later, Tech earned a throw in, with
Ryan Pearson's throw in pinballing around the 6-yard-box – Miles flicked a shot that was deflected, but Rideout hammered home the rebound for the 2-goal lead.
Late in the half, the visitors extended the margin, as
Lennyn Solis launched low 25-yard free kick into the right corner of the goal.
The Owls added three goals after the break – as Myles headed home a Pearson throw in, Rideout capitalizing on an Argo (6-6-2, 4-4-2) mistake and driving home a 30-yard laser into the top-right corner of the net, while a failed clearance by UP keeper Cameron Chadd allowed a pass to trickle into the goal to cap the scoring.
Keeper
Ryan Solis made four saves in recording his league-leading seventh shutout of the season, as both teams took 13 total shots.
Tech plays their final regular-season road match next Friday, heading to Ashland for a rivalry date at Southern Oregon.
