ASHLAND, Ore. – Southern Oregon won the annual rivalry match-up with Oregon Tech, as the No. 25-ranked Raiders got a pair of first half goals in a physical 3-0 victory at Raider Stadium.
SOU (13-2, 9-1 CCC) won for the sixth-straight time, getting goals from Evan Norconk, Bryan Mendoza and Alex Hjulmand – remaining unbeaten all-time against Tech (8-4-3, 6-3-2) in the Rogue Valley.
Norconk got the Raiders on the board in the 16th minute, touching home a left-footed shot at the back post off a Sky Charley-Bolyard cross.
Mendoza headed home a cross just before the break to add to the lead, with Hjulmand tucking home an 18-yard shot just under the crossbar in the 57th minute.
The match featured 33 fouls and nine cautions, with SOU holding a 12-8 lead in shots. Andy Pasang had three shots and
Ellis Harwood had a pair of attempts for the Owls – but Casey Ruvolo recorded the clean sheet for Southern.
OIT can clinch a postseason spot with a win or draw in one of their two final matches – or a draw or loss by Eastern Oregon. The Owls return home next Sunday to meet Northwest, before the regular season finale a week from Monday vs. Evergreen State.
