Looking to start the 2022 season on the right foot, Tech wasted no time in jumping out in front.

In the top of the first, the Lady Owls got three runners on and eventually plated one when the Jessup catcher committed an error, allowing Maggie Buckholz to score.

William Jessup would tie the affair at one run apiece at the bottom of the first when Maddy Ybarra crossed the plate on a passed ball.

OIT would go quiet in the next two frames, which allowed Jessup to grab a lead in the bottom of the third.

Sam Lorge singled for the Warriors, plating Ybarra for the second time to put her side ahead 2-1.

In what turned out to be a back-and-forth affair, freshman Zoe Allen came through for Tech in the 4th, singling to score Jensen Becker to tie the game.

Unfortunately for the top-ranked Lady Owls, they would go quiet for the remainder of the afternoon.

In the bottom of the 6th, Lorge and Kaela Hangebrauck went yard to seal up a huge upset victory for Jessup.

The Warriors went on to win 4-2 to start their 2022 campaign 1-0.

Tech was led at the plate by true freshman, Zoe Allen. Allen went 2-for-3, with an RBI in her collegiate debut.

Sarah Abramson picked up the loss for Tech in the circle. The senior hurled six innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out five.

Katie Blankenheim grabbed the win for Jessup. The sophomore threw seven innings, allowing one earned run on eight hits while walking one and striking out four.

Tech will return to action at 4pm to face off against Menlo (0-0), with the chance to avenge their early defeat.
