SPRINGFIELD, OR. – Oregon Tech (8-6) was held at bay on Saturday in a 4-2 loss to Corban in a rare non-league tilt against a CCC opponent. The Hustlin' Owls got a quality performance out of their bullpen but fell just short at the plate.
Corban 4 Oregon Tech 2
Looking to avenge their CCC Tournament loss to Corban that ended Tech's season last year, the Hustlin' Owls came up just short in their revenge attempt on Saturday.
Playing at a neutral site, Tech got off to a rough start as the Warriors got to Tech starter Jacob Miller early.
Corban grabbed a run in the 2nd before tacking on three more in the 3rd, ending Miller's day after three complete innings pitched.
The senior allowed four earned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out one.
Trailing 4-0, Tech would look to their bullpen, who would come through for the Owls with a strong combined performance.
Cody Dubray and Braeden Bellum would throw the remainder of the contest, shutting down a potent Warriors lineup.
While Corban's offense was held down, Tech would attempt to scratch their way back into the tilt.
The Hustlin' Owls grabbed two runs in the top of the 5th, to half their deficit, but were unable to scratch across anymore on Saturday, resulting in the defeat.
Miller was charged with the loss for Tech while Szczepane grabbed the win on the hill for Corban.
OIT was led at the plate by Dalton Daily, who went 2-for-4.
Tech will return to action next week to face Bushnell (0-10) back in Springfield for a four-game series that will not count against their CCC record.
