Hustlin’ Owls Earn Pre-CCC Doubleheader Sweep Over Bushnell

SPRINGFIELD, OR. – Oregon Tech (10-6) earned a Friday sweep of Bushnell University (1-13) in another rare non-league tilt against a CCC opponent. The Hustlin' Owls got quality performances on the hill and 13 hits in each game to pace themselves in both victories.

Following the pair of victories, Tech HC Jacob Garsez remarked: "Really good offensive approach for us today. A little setback defensively, but competitiveness was great. We aren't finished… looking forward to seeing our response tomorrow."

Game One:
Oregon Tech 7
Bushnell University 1

Playing in Springfield for the second consecutive weekend, Tech got the bats rolling to support another outstanding start from Dylan Grogan.

Grogan threw seven complete innings on Friday, allowing only one run on three hits while striking out five batters.

The outing for the senior earned him his fourth victory of the season and lowered his ERA to an incredible 0.96 average through five starts.

While Grogan was dealing on the hill, Tech was held at bay early but exploded once Bushnell's starter left the game.

The Hustlin' Owls scored two runs in the eighth and three in the ninth to seal up their ninth victory of the season.

The late barrage was highlighted by a Dalton Daily HR and a pair of RBI doubles from Tyler Horner and Brodie Marino.

Ian Peters also hit a HR for Tech that tied the game in the third inning.

Spencer Dahlke picked up the save for Tech, hurling two shutout frames in relief for Grogan.

The Hustlin' Owls finished game one, being led at the dish by Peters and Mitchel Swanson, who both went 3-for-4.

Game Two:
Oregon Tech: 11
Bushnell University: 5

In game two, Tech picked up where they left off in the latter portion of game two.

OIT plated eight runs across the first three frames to pretty much seal the deal early on against the Beacons.

In the first five innings, Tech got home runs out of Dalton Daily, Mitchel Swanson, and Ian Peters to highlight the offensive onslaught.

While the visitors demonstrated their power in the box, Patrick Arman threw six strong innings.

Arman allowed only one earned run on ten hits while recording 11 strikeouts.

After Arman exited, Brodie Maloney made his debut on the bump for Tech and was excellent.

Maloney recorded the save, throwing three scoreless frames, allowing only two hits, and striking out four.

The Hustlin' Owls were led at the plate by Swanson, who went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

The Beacons were led at the plate altogether on Saturday by Jacob Stoner, who went 3-for-9 in the two games.

Tech will return to action tomorrow for two more non-CCC tilts against the Beacons.
