Lady Owls Bounce Back to Defeat Walla Walla

COLLEGE PLACE, WASH. — The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (19-9, 12-9) used a huge fourth quarter to hold off the Walla Walla Wolves (2-26, 1-20) for a 76-66 victory. The Lady Owls used a balanced offensive attack to shoot 70% down the stretch to get themselves back into the win column.

Following the victory, HC Scott Meredith said: "Walla Walla was as tough as we thought they played a heck of a ballgame. We made adjustments defensively and our players made it work. Tied at half, we knew we needed a fast start in the 3rd quarter. We shot exceptionally well in the 4th and needed every basket to secure the win. "

Looking to gain momentum for next week's conference tournament, Tech held off a valiant effort from Walla Walla to pick up the win on the road.

The Wolves gave Tech a run for their money on Friday, shooting 46% from beyond the arc to prevent the Lady Owls from pulling away.

For the first three quarters, both sides went back and forth, exchanging tough buckets and physical defense.

After the opening 20 minutes, the score was knotted up at 33, as each team was shooting around 50% from the field.

In the 3rd quarter, the script remained similar as Tech shot 55% and the Wolves shot 53%.

With a slim lead, Tech needed a big 4th quarter to put the game away.

Tech shot a staggering 70% from the floor in the final period while limiting Walla Walla to just 26% to pull away.

The Lady Owls registered five players in double figures on Friday, which was a big key to victory:

Shelby Blodgett: 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting with five rebounds and four assists

Kristin Farrell: 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting

Olivia Sprague: 12 points on 3-of-8 shooting

Maddyson Tull: 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting with nine rebounds

Melissa Lee: 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting with six rebounds

Carolina Montes led the Wolves, who had 19 points on 6-of-18 shooting.

Tech will return to action tomorrow to face #21 Lewis-Clark State (23-3, 17-3) in Lewiston at 3:00PM.
