No. 1 Lady Owls Earn Mid-Week Sweep of D3 Pacific University

FOREST GROVE, OR – The #1 ranked Lady Owls (7-3) earned a mid-week sweep of division 3 side, Pacific (1-7), on Wednesday afternoon. The victory for Tech is their fifth straight, and provides them with momentum heading into Rocklin this weekend.

Game One: #1 Oregon Tech 7 (D3) Pacific University 2 (8-innings)

With the opportunity to earn a Wednesday sweep of the Pacific Boxers, Tech used an extra-inning onslaught in game one, then kept the bats hot in game two.

In game one, the Lady Owls were held to just one hit across the first five innings.

Although the Tech offense had gone quiet, senior ace Sarah Abramson had limited the Boxers to just one run.

Pacific would tack on a run in the 6th, giving the hosts a 2-0 lead.

But the lead wouldn't last.

In the 7th inning, Jensen Becker hit a two-run double to knot the score and breathe life back into the OIT dugout.

Abramson would trot back out for the bottom of the 7th and escape a jam to force extra frames.

In the 8th inning, the bats caught fire for Tech, picking back up off a strong 7th inning.

The Lady Owls scored five runs on six hits, highlighted by a three-run blast from Aubrie Businger to open the game up.

Abramson would hold it down in the circle, holding the Boxers off the scoreboard to pick up her third victory of the season.

The senior threw eight innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out eight.

The Lady Owls were led at the plate by Aubrie Businger, who went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, and Jensen Becker, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Patton was charged with the loss in the circle, going eight innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits with five walks.

McNeel led Pacific at the plate, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Game Two: #1 Oregon Tech 10 (D3) Pacific University 2

Looking to earn their second consecutive sweep, Oregon Tech kept the bats hot and used a four-run 6th inning to pull away and defeat the Lady Boxers.

In the 1st inning, Tech carried their momentum over from their game one victory.

The Lady Owls used RBIs from Maggie Buckholz and Krista Ward to take an early 2-0 lead.

Once Tech grabbed the lead, they'd never look back, capitalizing off of 12 hits and five Pacific errors.

With a 3-2 lead in the 6th, Tech used three hits to plate four runs, burying the Boxers' chances to salvage a split.

The Lady Owls would go on to win 10-2, picking up their fifth straight victory.

Tech was led at the plate by Maggie Buckholz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Mckenzie Staub picked up the victory in the circle, going six innings allowing only two runs on three hits.

Jenna Gorden made her debut for Tech in the seventh, pitching a scoreless frame with two strikeouts.

Waara picked up the loss for Pacific, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits.

The Lady Owls will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Rocklin to face off against William Jessup (8-2) and Antelope Valley (7-3).
