KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— Oregon Tech (5-1, 2-0 CCC) scored a goal in each half on the way to a 2-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) shutout win over Evergreen State (0-5-1, 0-2-0 CCC) Saturday at the OIT Soccer Field.
"Very important start to our conference season getting two wins this weekend," said head coach
Casey Tate. "I am very proud of all the effort the girls brought this weekend and some really stepped up. We know we are going to have to work hard this week to be ready for another difficult game next weekend."
Freshman
Shalynai Naputi (Waialua, Hawaii) scored her first career goal in the 42
nd minute finishing a nice cross from fellow freshman
Olivia Kreiser (Boise, Idaho) to give the Owls a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Owls continued to control possession with a big 27-6 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in shots on frame.
Tech's
Mehana Ortiz (Mililani, Hawaii) pushed the lead to 2-0 for the Owls, as she dribbled through several defenders and scored her second goal of the season in the upper right of the net.
Tech will next play in Ashland, Ore. on Friday September 24 at 1:30 PM against Southern Oregon University.
