ASHLAND, Ore.— Southern Oregon (4-3-1, 2-1 CCC) scored a goal in each half on the way to a 2-1 Cascade Conference win over No. 20 Oregon Tech (5-2, 2-1 CCC) Friday at Raider Stadium.
SOU got the scoring started in the ninth minute as Sarah Mauk notched her fourth goal of the year, taking a through ball from Baylee Touey and scoring eight yards out.
Tech got the equalizer in the 32
nd minute as
Mehana Ortiz (Pictured) took a good pass from
Maddie Miller and hit a left-footed bomb from 28 feet out, the ball went over the SOU keeper to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the break.
Southern Oregon got the game-winner from Kaya Baird in the 74
th minute as she scored on a five-yard shot giving SOU the 2-1 win.
The two goals given up today by the Owls is the most they have given up over the last 16 games, dating back to a 3-2 loss at Corban last season.
The Lady Owls will next travel to Montana for games next Friday and Saturday at the University of Providence and Rocky Mountain College respectively.
