Buckholz Blasts 3-Homers in Owls Sweep

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Sophomore Maggie Buckholz (Pictured) slammed three home runs, and delivering 9 RBI in leading the #5 Oregon Tech (26-4, 12-3 CCC) Owls to a doubleheader sweep at Northwest University Saturday afternoon.

Game Three: Oregon Tech 15 Northwest 1 (5 innings)

Tech would get off to the front foot, as McKenna Armantrout stole home to grab Tech a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles would respond in the bottom of the 1st however, plating a run off of an RBI single from Nunes.

Tech wouldn't be denied for long though, as Buckholz went yard with her first homer, plating herself and Krista Ward.

Abramson would settle into a groove, which allowed the Tech offense to build a lead.

In the 3rd, Ward would follow in Buckholz's footsteps, hitting a home run of her own, followed by an RBI single from Olivia Lethlean.

Leading 5-1, Tech would break the game open in the 4th.

Kennedy Jantzi would join the home run fest, hitting her Cascade Conference leading 13th, and Buckholz would add her 2nd of the game, which pushed Tech ahead 10-1.

Tech would finish the game off in the 5th. After a few RBI base hits, Buckholz went yard for the 3rd time, sending the Owls ahead 15-1, which would be the final score.

Lady Owls Pitcher Sarah Abramson was solid again improving her record to 13-2 on the season. Abramson threw 5 innings, allowing no earned runs on 2 hits, walking 0 batters, and striking out 5.

Game Four: Oregon Tech 11 Northwest 1 (5 innings)

Like they did in Game 3, the Owls grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st off a Krista Ward RBI.

However, this slim lead wouldn't be slim for long.

Tech blew the game wide open in the 2nd inning, scoring 8 runs to push out to a 9-0 advantage.  In the frame, Tech took advantage of a plethora of walks and Eagles errors, as there were 7 walks and 2 errors in the frame.

Kennedy Jantzi and Krista Ward would hit RBI doubles in the 3rd, for the 10th and 11th runs, which would be all of the offense the Owls would have the rest of the game.

Tech starter McKenzie Staub was able to slam the door, en route to the run rule victory and sweep for Tech.

Staub had one of her best outings of the season throwing 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 8.

Tech was led at the plate by Armantrout who was 2-2 at the plate in the game.

The Lady Owls will return to play next weekend when they host Warner-Pacific (12-15) in a 4 game series.
