CALDWELL, Idaho-- #6 Oregon Tech 34-8, 18-6 CCC) missed out the opportunity to take sole possession of 2nd place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings on Saturday. The Lady Owls lost both games of the Saturday doubleheader 1-3, and 2-3, in 8 innings to #23 College of Idaho (32-14, 19-5 CCC).

Game Three: College of Idaho 3 Oregon Tech 2 (8 Innings)
Â
The third game of the weekend series was a true rubber match, as runs were an absolute premium for two typically power-hitting offenses.
Â
College of Idaho got on the board first, scoring a run off of an RBI double in the bottom of the 1st inning.
Â
Aside from that, neither side would plate a run over the next 6 frames. Each side threatened, even putting multiple runners in scoring position. College of Idaho led 1-0 heading into the 7th inning.
Â
In the 7th, the Lady Owls played "comeback kids" once again.
Logan Nunes grounded into a fielder's choice which was good enough to score McKenzie Staub to tie the game at 1.
Â
Abramson would throw her 6th consecutive scoreless frame in the 7th, and the game headed to extra-innings with the score knotted.
Â
In the 8th inning,
Aubrie Businger lined out to left, but deep enough for the sacrifice fly which gave the Owls their first lead of the day at 2-1.
Â
Unfortunately, as Tech was searching for more runs, they allowed the Yotes to get the runner on 3rd in a pickle which killed the rally.
Â
In the bottom of the 8th, as the rain poured down, the Yotes were able to get runners on base and plated the two runs needed to win thanks to two wild pitches.
Â
Sarah Abramson picked up the loss in the circle for Tech which moved her record to 17-5 on the season.
Â
Abramson threw 7.1 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, and walked 8 batters.
Â
Katelyn Wilfert played a pivotal role for the Yotes throwing 6.1 innings, allowing only 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Â
Tech was led at the plate by
Kennedy Jantzi who was 2-2 on the afternoon.
Â
Â
Game Four: College of Idaho 3 Oregon Tech 1 (non-conference) Â
Â
In game 4, Tech jumped on the board early, as they've shown they can do all season long.
Â
Krista Ward singled to left-center to score Mick and give the Lady Owls an early 1-0 lead.
Â
Like the game earlier Saturday afternoon, the battle between the Yotes and Lady Owls was a rubber match.
Â
The Tech starter McKenzie Staub pitched a strong first two innings, but in the bottom of the 3rd, Trystin Crofts hit a 2-run home run to put the hosts ahead.
Â
After the first few frames, College of Idaho handed the ball over to Hannah McNerney who dominated in the circle for the Yotes. She shutdown the Owls from the 3rd to the 7th inning which allowed her to grab the win.
Â
After the Lady Owls got off to a great start they didn't plate a run the rest of the game.
Â
COI added a run on a sac fly in the 6th for some insurance which ensured their sweep of the Saturday doubleheader.
Â
Staub picked up the loss in the circle, moving her record to 17-3 on the year.
Â
Tech was led at the plate by Mick, Businger, and Nunes who all had 2 hits.
Â
The Lady Owls will return to play next weekend to host Eastern Oregon in a 4 game regular season finale series.
