KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— Oregon Tech improved to 8-5 in Cascade Conference play and 11-5 overall with a three set sweep 3-0, (25-8, 25-20, 25-21) of Multnomah University (0-13, 0-13) Friday night at Danny Miles Court.
"Great first set by the team," said head coach
Ken Murczek. "I was really proud of our focus to start the match. To have a set with no hitting errors is really tough to do and we accomplished that in the first set. Unfortunately, we did not play as clean the next 2 sets. We will refocus for tomorrows match and clean up our serving to put more pressure on Multnomah's offense."
Tech breezed through the first set 25-8 with .500 kill percentage getting 12 kills on 24 attempts while holding the Lions to 5 kills on 34 attempts.
Set two saw a good battle as the Lions stayed with the Owls, a Danae Stokes ace drew the Multnomah to within one point at 18-19.
Tech responded, grabbing six of the next seven points to win 25-20.
Tech was able to stay out of the reach of Lions in the third and final set maintaining 3-6 point lead throughout before winning 25-21 and winning the match 3-0.
Kaylin Talonen led the Owls with 11 kills with
Nicole Reyes adding 8 and
Faith Houck-Wylie chipping in 7. Tech hit at a .269 % for the match while holding MU to -.027
Courtney Isom held down the middle with 26 assists and added two aces for the Owls.
Kamaile Labanon led the Lions with 10 kills and added 10 digs.
The two teams will wrap up the series Saturday at 4:00 pm at Danny Miles Court on senior night as the Owls honor their lone senior
Ireland Bennett before the match.
