Owls Hustle Past Raiders

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Senior Garret Albrecht scored a career high 32 points to lead Oregon Tech (4-1) past Southern Oregon (0-1) 86-71 Friday afternoon at Danny Miles Court.

"Garret had a really nice night. He's put in a lot of work throughout his career and it's pretty dang fun watching it pay off," said head coach Justin Parnell. "We really got the ball up the floor well in transition tonight - big kudos to our young PG's. We also did a great job defending SOU's motion but were late on a few perimeter shooters."

Both teams got off to a slow start as they combined going 1 for 20 from the floor over the first five minutes.

In the opening stanza, SOU led for 14 minutes with their largest lead of 6 points on a Mason Whittaker three pointer at the 11:18 mark. Tech only led for 1:45 in the first half with its largest lead at five, which came on an Albrecht three as the period ended. SOU would not lead again.

The Hustlin' Owls led the entire second half, pushing the lead to 17 points on another Albrecht three.

For the game, OIT shot 44% while holding the Raiders to 38.5% with the Owls out-scoring SOU 46-36 in the second half on the way to the 86-71 win.

Harrison Steiger added 14 points for Tech with freshman Jamison Guerra chipping in 11.

SOU was led by Josh Meyer with 18-points.

The two teams will play again Saturday at 2:00 pm at Danny Miles Court. No fans are allowed.
