LA GRANDE, Ore.—Eastern Oregon improved to a Cascade Conference best 6-0 and 12-2 on the year as they dominated Oregon Tech (2-4, 2-4 CCC) 97-67 Saturday afternoon at Quinn Coliseum.
"A disappointing day to say the least," said head coach
Scott Meredith. "We got some great offensive looks early in the game, but couldn't score. Meanwhile, Eastern was able to score at will. I'm very concerned about our defense and ability to get stops right now. We need to dramatically improve at the D end before we head to Portland in 2 weeks. The one bright spot was how hard our team played in the 2nd half. We can build off that."
The Mountaineers took-off early as they jumped out to a 24-8 lead after the first quarter on 10-17 shooting while holding OIT to just 3-of-16 18.75%.
The lead doubled by halftime as EOU led 51-20.
The Owls out-scored Eastern 47-to-46 in the second half but really made up any ground as the Mounties cruised to a 97-67 win.
Senior
Beth Derner led OIT with a career high 24 points with
Abby Kreiser the only other Owl in double figures in scoring with 11.
Tech will head to Multnomah next on Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24 in Portland, Ore.
