KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — For the second day in a row, Oregon Tech (9-1, 7-1 CCC) beat Southern Oregon 1-0 in Cascade Conference action at the OIT Soccer Field; it was Tech's eighth shutout of the year and fifth in a row.
Head coach
Casey Tate stated, "Really proud of the girls. They showed a lot of grit and determination this weekend. To win two one to zero games against a good SOU team is very difficult. We had players step up for the team and everyone left it all on the field this senior weekend. To go unbeaten at home was very important for our team and they gave everything to make sure it happened. We need to regroup and get ready for a good Northwest team next weekend."
Southern Oregon falls to 4-3-1 on the year with the loss. Tech outshot the Raiders 10-0 in the 1st half, but few of those were on frame, which kept the match knotted at 0 at the half.
However, after 55 minutes of no luck in rippling the Raider net, Tech finally broke through.
56th Minute -- On her senior weekend,
Abigail Herbert would grab what would be the game-winning goal.
Nyah Kendall worked it down the flank, crossing the ball to Herbert who slotted in the pass to the lower left corner for the lead. .
The highlight this weekend for Tech was their defending. The Owls held SOU to 6 total shot attempts between the 2 games, which is an incredible stat.
After out-shooting the Raiders 10-0 in the first half, Tech outshot them 9-4 in the 2nd, as SOU definitely had some chances to tie the match.
With the win, Tech remains tied for 1st place in the
CCC West Division Standings.
The Owls will return to play next week, when they travel to face Northwest University (5-4-1).
