Hustlin’ Owls Win Game 1, Settle for Split

SALEM Ore.— Oregon Tech (13-15) split the Friday doubleheader with Corban U (8-18). The Hustlin' Owls won Game 1 8-2, before facing an offensive onslaught from the Warriors in Game 2.

"We responded well in game 1, from a tough start," commented head coach Jacob Garsez. "It was great to see us gain momentum and keep it. Patrick pitched well and our offense took advantage of moments. We did not respond well in Game 2 and look forward to a bounce-back day tomorrow!"

Game One: Oregon Tech 8 Corban 2

Corban got on the board first, scoring their only 2 runs in the bottom of the frame.

In the top of the 2nd, Tech responded with 4 runs, highlighted by a Zack Stockton 2RBI double.

The rest of the game would be dominated on the hill by Patrick Arman and Spencer Dahlke for Tech.

With Corban being held at bay, Tech would tack on 1 run in the 3rd and in the 6th.

Jesse Dunham (pictured) would seal the victory for Tech in the 7th inning when he hit a two-run single that put the game out of reach.

Arman picked up the win for Tech, throwing 7 innings, giving up only 2 runs on 4 hits, and striking out 7 improving to 3-1 on the year.

Dahlke was very solid in relief throwing 2 innings, and allowing no runs and no hits while striking out three.

Kaleb Keelean, Dunham, and Stockton led the Owls at the plate with 2 hits each.

Game Two: Corban 14 Oregon Tech 4 (7)

Corban got out onto the front foot once again in Game 2, but this time they scored 4 runs in the 1st.

After peppering Tech starter Dylan Grogan in the 3rd, the Warriors would hit a 3-run HR to extend their lead to 8-0 after three.

The bats didn't cool down anytime soon for Corban either, as they hit 3 more home runs in the 4th inning, highlighted by a Grand Slam that would end Grogan's day.

Tech would string together a few runs in the 6th and 7th, but it wasn't enough to avoid the run-rule defeat.

Tech was led once again by Keelean at the plate who had 3 hits in 4 at-bats.

Tech will face off with Corban in 2 more games tomorrow at Volcanoes Stadium. Fans and parents will be required to register beforehand if they would like to attend. Tickets are $5 for each day, and they must show their email confirmation and be screened in order to enter the venue. One ticket is good for an entire day (no need to purchase tickets for both games of a doubleheader). Live Stats | Live Video |
