KLAMATH FALLS, Ore-- Oregon Tech (2-0) completed the sweep of Bushnell (1-3) 89-68 in an offensive onslaught at Danny Miles Court on Saturday night. As a team, the Owls shot a blistering 54% from the field en-route to the blowout victory.
Â
"We really executed defensively in the first 25 minutes," said head coach
Justin Parnell. "Bushnell made some nice adjustments to counter what we were doing but our guys competed. It was a nice start to this spring season and this group will continue to get better with more practices under their belt."
Â
The Owls came out in the first half shooting lights out at a whopping 55% from the floor. The Owls spread out the scoring very well and had a 23 point lead 10 minutes into the game, holding the Beacons scoreless for the first six minutes.
Â
The hot start from Tech allowed them to build a 47-26 lead at halftime over a Beacons' side who only shot 34.6%
Â
The pace would be very even in the 2nd half as each team scored 42 points in the final frame. The Beacons shot 58% from the floor which was a game-high but wasn't enough for them to pull off an incredible comeback.
Â
Kaden Sand was a key to that great shooting performance for Bushnell as he had a game-high 23 points.
Â
The Owls would hang on to the 20 point advantage and advance to 2-0.
Â
Harrison Steiger led the Owls, scoring 15 points on 4-6 shooting.
Â
Erik Fraser also contributed well for the Owls scoring 11 points, while
Kaison Faust and
Garret Albrecht both had 10.
Â
The Hustlin' Owls will return to action next week to face off with Corban in Salem, Ore.
