KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech (1-0) knocked off Bushnell University (1-2) 85-82 in a thriller at Danny Miles Court on Friday night.
Kaison Faust (Pictured) shot a perfect 9-9 from the floor, which was good enough for a team-high 23 points in the victory.
"It was really great to be out on the court competing again," said head coach
Justin Parnell. "Our guys have been so wonderful and positive over the past year and to see them out there with smiles on their faces was really special. Bushnell is really good. They are well coached and do a nice job of attacking mismatches. We did a nice job of getting the ball inside and finishing at the rim as well as getting some crucial offensive rebounds. Our flow of the offense will get better with time and conditioning."
Both teams showed no sign that it was the first game of the season. The Beacons shot over 51% in the first half which was good enough for 42 points. However, the Owls one-upped the Beacons.
The Owls would take a two-point lead into halftime, shooting 55% from the floor. The Owls also shot 55% from 3-point land, which gave them the pace to stay ahead of Bushnell.
The strong offensive showing for both teams would continue in the 2nd half, but it was the Owls who made the necessary stops to win the game.
The Owls held Bushnell to 0 made 3-point field goals in the 2nd half, which would prove to be the difference in a 3-point win for the Owls.
The Owls would push their lead to a game-high 10 points with 10 and a half minutes left, and they'd manage the game well to close it out for the victory.
Faust led the Owls, scoring 23 points on 9-9 shooting while also grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Garret Albrecht also contributed well for the Owls scoring 17 points on 8-12 shooting.
The final Owl in double figures was Kameron Osborn who shot it well from 3, and recorded 14 points in his Oregon Tech debut.
