Lady Owls Fall to Warriors 3-2

SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (4-1) grabbed the lead early, but weren't able to hold on as they suffered their first loss of the season 3-2, to the Corban Warriors (3-1). On a very rainy afternoon at the Capital FC Soccer Complex, the Lady Warriors were the more efficient attacking side who looked used to playing at home.

3rd Minute -- Maddie Miller continued her goal-scoring streak, as she dispatched a penalty kick that Tech earned in their opening attack of the match. The goal for Miller was her 7th goal in just 5 matches this season.

Tech would hold the lead for around 30 minutes before the Lady Warriors would respond with a goal of their own.

33rd Minute -- Skyla Vogelpohl kept her composure under defensive pressure and slotted home the tying goal via a solid attacking spell from the hosts. The goal would knot the score at 1, and send each side into their respected dugouts with a lot left to play for.

46th Minute -- The Warriors came out in the 2nd half guns blazing as Juliana Pires fired in the go-ahead goal just 45 seconds into the half. Pires made a blistering run down the left flank and slotted it in-between Sydney Nakamura's legs to grab the 2-1 advantage.

73rd Minute -- With 17 minutes to play, Pires would repeat her heroics. The forward for the Lady Warriors blazed down the left-wing, finishing near post again, to give Corban a 3-1 lead.

81st Minute -- With the momentum fully swung towards Corban, the Lady Owls wouldn't go down without a fight. A slick pass from Maddie Miller found Mehana Ortiz (Pictured) who cooly pulled the Owls within a goal. The goal for Ortiz was her 5th of the season in as many games and Miller's first assist.

Unfortunately, the Owls couldn't find the 3rd goal, despite attempting four more corners down the final 10-minute stretch.

The Owls outshot the Warriors 17-9 and had more shots on goal, but it was Corban who made the most of their chances.

The two sides will face off again tomorrow in Salem, Ore. at 12:30pm.
