Klamath Falls, OR. – Oregon Tech advanced to 18-0 for the 1st time in program history, sweeping the series over Bushnell University. The Lady Owls (18-0, 6-0 CCC) beat the Beacons (2-16, 0-6 CCC), 3-0 and 10-1 on Saturday on the backs of yet another strong showing by Tech's pitchers.
Sarah Abramson picked up her 10th win of the season to improve to 10-0, and
Mckenzie Staub improved to 8-0.
Kaila Mick (Pictured) led the Owls offensively on Saturday, going 7-7 at the plate.
"It was nice to see us play good defense especially in a close game one," said head coach
Greg Stewart. "We pitched well in both games and got timely hitting. Kaila had a fantastic day going a perfect 7-7."
Game One: Oregon Tech 3 Bushnell 0
Tech grabbed a 2-0 lead in the Top of the 1st, via a
Kaila Mick RBI double, and a
Jayce Seavert SAC fly that would plate Mick.
From the 2nd to 4th inning, both offenses were held in check by the opposing pitchers. Miranda Jensen and
Sarah Abramson showed strong composure in the circle, as each threw scoreless frames in that stretch.
Right after Abramson threw her 5th consecutive scoreless frame of the afternoon, Mick homered to centerfield in the bottom of the 5th, to extend the Owls lead to 3-0.
The offenses would remain in a stalemate the rest of the game, which was good enough for Tech to advance to 17-0.
Lady Owls Pitcher Abramson was incredible yet, again improving her record to 10-0 on the season. Abramson threw 7 innings, allowing 0 earned runs on 4 hits, walking 2 batters, and striking out 7.
Mick led the Owls from the plate, going 3-3 with 2 RBIs
Overall Tech was strong at the plate, only striking out twice in the game.
Game Two: Oregon Tech 10 Bushnell 1 (5) non-conference
OIT got off to an extremely hot start, grabbing 4 runs in the Top of the 1st Inning. The Owls scored off of a
Aubrie Businger RBI single, a
Krista Ward 2-Run HR, and a Seavert RBI.
The Owls would blow the game open in the 2nd, scoring 5 more runs to push their advantage to 9-0.
Kennedy Jantzi would hit a 2-Run HR, then Seavert and
Lexi Klum would double as a part of the big inning.
Up 9-0 after 2, each side would score 1 more run a piece in the game, as OIT would win via run-rule in 5 innings.
Tech's offense continued to roll, let again led by
Kaila Mick. Mick was 4-4 in Game 2, scoring 3 times. Ward would be right behind her going 2-2, with 3 RBIs
Another solid outing from
Mckenzie Staub, allowed her to pick up her 8th win of the year. Staub threw 5 innings, allowing 1 earned run, on 7 hits while striking out 4, walking none..
The Lady Owls will return to action on Friday, when they travel to play a 4 game series at Corban University in Salem, Ore.
