"No better feeling than being down 0-2 on the road and giving yourself a chance by pushing it to a 5th set," said Coach Murczek. "I was impressed with how the team responded when we changed our offense from a 6-2 to a 5-1 in the 3rd set. We had some players really show their versatility by playing out of their normal position. Excited to see us compete again tomorrow at 3pm at Simpson and continue to build on the success we have had thus far this weekend."
Set one was tied at 14 before the Warriors went on an 11-7 run to win 25-21.
The second set was similar to the first, with the Owls controlling the action early, again only to have the Warriors control tempo at the end to win 25-21.
In the third set, things started to turn for the Owls as we scored seven un-answered points to take a 14-5 lead. Jessup had a nice run, scoring three points consecutively, but the lead was too much, and the Owls claimed set three, 25-14. The fourth set was all Owls as Oregon Tech won 25-10.
The fifth and final set was close as the lead ended up changing on five occasions. However, this time it was the Owls who scored four of the final five points to take the set 15-11 to win the match.
Nicole Reyes (15 kills),
Kaylin Talonen (13 kills) and
Faith Houck-Wylie (11 kills) led the Owl's attack. While
Brooke Cassidy led OIT with 23 assists.
Tech did a great job of controlling the ball with a total of 86 digs,
Aubrey Kievit led the way with 21, Talonen added 19 and
Lindsey Sampson 16.
Tech will conclude the three game road-trip on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Simpson University.
