KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Sophomore
Maddie Miller scored three times, while freshman
Mehana Ortiz (#6 Pictured) had two-goals and two-assists in her Oregon Tech (1-0) debut, leading the Owls past Simpson (1-1) by a score of 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Oregon Tech soccer field.
Ortiz started the scoring for Tech in the 20
th minute as she hooked in a corner kick to give the Owls the early 1-0 lead.
Miller made it 2-0 just three minutes later as she converted on a PK.
Senior
Abigail Herbert made it a 3-0 game, taking a perfect pass from Ortiz and finishing in the upper-right of the net in the 31
st minute.
Sophomore
Nyah Kendall put the Owls up 4-0 heading into the half off nother nice pass from Ortiz.
Just six minutes into the second stanza, Miller made it a 5-0 game, taking a
Kyra Cambra pass scoring in the top right corner.
Ortiz and Miller each added a goal over the final 30 minutes to give OIT the 7-0 win.
Tech had a huge 35-1 advantage in shots and a 19-1 edge in shots on goal.
Simpson keeper Nadia Jimenez made some impressive saves in the game for the Red Hawks as she was credited with 11 saves, none of them cheap.
Up next the Owls will play at William Jessup next Saturday in Rocklin, California. Next home game for the Owls will be Saturday, February 27, as Western Oregon University comes to town at high noon.
