Hustlin’ Owls Open Season with Win Over Warriors

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Hustlin' Owls opened their first game of a delayed season with two goals in the first half and held the lead through the second to drop William Jessup 2-1 on Friday afternoon at the OIT Soccer Stadium.

Sophomore Brock Rideout kicked off Tech's early goals in the first half, scoring a header off of junior Jake Mitchell's corner kick. Mitchell came in for a goal of his own a few minutes later, landing one in the net off a keeper punch. After this push the two teams struggled to score for the rest of the half.

The Warrior's Paul Anderson broke the drought in the beginning of the second, scoring a goal with an assist from Josh Freeman. However, two saves from each side helped keep the remainder of the half scoreless and the Owls coasted to the victory.

Rideout and sophomore Cade O'Neill each made three shots in the game to lead Oregon Tech's offense, though seven other players also tallied at least one shot in the game, bringing the team to 15 total shots in the game compared to Jessup's 9.

Anderson and Freeman led the Warriors with four shots each.

The Hustlin' Owls will play their second game against William Jessup next Saturday, the 13th of February, at 1:30pm on the Warrior's home turf in Rocklin, California. Live stats and additional information can be found at www.OregonTechOwls.com
