Women's soccer goalkeeper
Alyx Burkhartzmeyer earned first-team All-American honors for the Owls. Head coach
Casey Tate said, "I am very happy for Alyx and our team for gaining the recognition to get a player on the All-American first team. I think it's a credit to our whole team as we defend as a team and our backline had a sensational season. Alyx did a fantastic job in goal. She made so many saves and caught many crosses that helped lead us to our success this season. It's a huge accomplishment and a credit to all her hard work. This award also shows the great work our current goalkeeper coach RJ Blackaby and previous goalkeeper coach Maleah Milner have done to help Alyx achieve this honor."
For the second year in a row, Ortiz earned honorable mention by the All-American Committee. Tate had this to say, "So happy for Mehana as well as our team for this honor. It's a credit to all her hard work and consistency that she was named All-American honorable mention two consecutive years. She also gained a lot of respect at the national tournament being named 1st team all-tournament. Our midfield and forwards play a key role in Mehana using her strengths to help our team be successful. They all work in harmony to make our attack go. I am so proud of her and our team."
All of the selections are made by the All-America Committee that comprised a first, second, third and honorable mention teams. There are 11 members on each of the first three All-America teams.
