KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (5-3, 0-3 CCC) suffered their third consecutive Cascade Conference loss to start league play in an 84-90 loss to Eastern Oregon (5-6, 2-1 CCC) the Mountaineers were led by 38 points from Sailor Liefke
Following the defeat, HC
Scott Meredith said: "A rough weekend for the Lady Owls. We certainly scored enough points (78 & 84) but just didn't play defense anywhere near our expectations. Sailor Liefke had another big game against us, but we defended her poorly and failed to adjust when she got hot in the second half. However, we had some outstanding play off our bench tonight, in fact, the best I've seen in 13 years at Tech and we played well enough to lead Eastern by 10 points at halftime. We will take a good look at how to improve on the defensive end this week and will commit to making that happen at that end of the floor going into Friday's game vs UC Merced."
Eastern Oregon 90 Oregon Tech 84
Coming off a tough defeat to College of Idaho the night before, Tech got the offense rolling in the first quarter.
After the first eight minutes, Tech led 26-22.
Tech would extend their lead in the second quarter, keeping the offense hot and jumping out to a 48-38 advantage.
Unfortunately for Tech their efforts would putter out once again and EOU would storm back to claim the victory.
Tech got out scored 31-20 in the third and 21-16 in the fourth to suffer their third straight defea.
OIT can credit their loss to EOU's Liefke who torched the Owls for 38 points on 13-of-22 shooting.
A bright spot in the loss for Tech was freshman
Shelby Blodgett who scored 24 points on 12-of-17 shooting off the bench.
Maddy Tull also had a good outing for Tech scoring 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
Oregon Tech will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Vallejo, CA for the Cal Crossover before returning home to host Corban University on Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
