Lady Owls Get Back in Win Column with Victory Over UC Merced

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (6-3) snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday afternoon, defeating the UC Merced Bobcats (6-7) 45-36 at the Cal Maritime Crossover Classic. Tech used a strong defensive to limit the Lady Bobcats to just 23% shooting while forcing 14 turnovers in the game.

"We were happy with the way our team played defense today," said head coach Scott Meredith. "UC Merced had trouble getting good looks and eventually had to look inside. Offensively, we missed a lot of layups and short jumpers, but in the end we scored enough to get the win tonight."

Tech ramped up their defense in a victory over the UC Merced Bobcats on Friday, the Owls battened down the hatches and held the Bobcats to just six points on 20% shooting in the first quarter of play.

On a night where Tech struggled to get a lot of offense going, their defense continued to stuff UC Merced, holding them to just five points in the second quarter.

Leading 18-11 at the break, Tech would keep their opponents within arm's length in the second half to hang on for a 45-36 victory.

Shelby Blodgett (Pictured) and Maddy Tull led the team in scoring, picking up 10 points apiece.

Cierra McClain led the way for UC Merced also picking up 10 points.

OIT will be back in action tomorrow when they face the Cal Maritime Academy in the second game of the Maritime Crossover Classic.
