Yotes Down Lady Owls in Overtime

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.-  The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (5-2) stormed out to an early fourteen-point lead, but ultimately couldn't hold off The College of Idaho (7-3) in a 78-80 overtime loss. After a dominant first quarter, both teams played one of the most back-and-forth games you'll see.

"That was quite a college basketball game tonight," said head coach Scott Meredith. "We had a great first quarter and we're in control until we weren't. C of I had a good 2nd quarter, and it was basket for basket from there. Defensively, we just didn't stay in front of their guards and they got to the rim far too often including the game winner. Very proud of how our team battled and it was an amazing play between Abby and Shelby to push the game into overtime. Must regroup quickly as it doesn't get easier with Eastern coming to town tomorrow at 3:00 pm."

College of Idaho 80 Oregon Tech 78 (OT)

Coming off a defeat to Southern Oregon last Tuesday, Tech came out of the gates on fire, grabbing a 25-11 lead in the first quarter.

Unfortunately for the Owls, their big advantage wouldn't last long.

The Lady 'Yotes climbed their way back into the game and from that point on the game would be back-and-forth to the very end.

Trailing 66-68 with 0.4 seconds remaining, Tech executed an inbound play to Shelby Blodgett who tipped it in to send the game to overtime.

In the overtime period, the contest continued to feature frequent lead changes.

The Lady 'Yotes would claim the final lead change of the contest with five seconds left, and Tech's three-point heave for the win didn't fall.

The Lady Owls finished with three players in double figures:

Maddyson Tull: 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting
Melissa Lee: 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting
Shelby Blodgett: 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting

Tech will be back in action tomorrow when they host Eastern Oregon as they look to get back on track and grab their first win in CCC play at 3:00 pm at Danny Miles Court.
