Kyra Mull’s Golden Goal Sends the Lady Owls to the Elite 8

BRACKETSCHEDULE LIVE STREAM

ORANGE BEACH, Ala.-10-seed Oregon Tech (19-2-1) will continue their dramatic postseason run after knocking off 7-seed Aquinas of Michigan (21-2-1) on Tuesday evening. After playing to a goalless draw in regulation, Kyra Mull chose the perfect time to get her third goal of the season, sliding it past Aquinas' keeper for the golden goal victory. Oregon Tech advances to face No. 2 Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. (Pacific)

#10 Oregon Tech 1 #7 Aquinas (Mich.) 0 (OT)

Heading into Tuesday's match, Tech received the lowest-seed of the championship bracket re-seeding process, which immediately gave them a chip on their shoulder.

Slated to face 7-seed Aquinas in the round of 10, Tech was once again playing with house money as the Lady Owls were making their first-ever appearance in the women's soccer championship bracket phase.

In the first half, each side came out with a resolute defensive shape, limiting the opportunities for either team's attacker to see a clear chance.

After the first half, each side was only able to muster two shots, and of the four combined shots taken, none posed much of a threat to the other keeper.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes, Tech turned it on in the second half, creating a few one-on-one chances that forced Aquinas' keeper Braeleigh McCoy into action.

Unfortunately for Tech, none of their chances would find the back of the net. After a scoreless 90-minutes, Tech would head to OT knotted at zero for the second time in as many matches.

During the overtime period, Tech's Kyra Mull struck gold.

Tech pinged a ball into the box that took a couple of deflections but ultimately fell to the feet of Mull.

Mull got her body around the ball and curled the ball into the bottom corner to send OIT to their first final 8 in program history.

Tech finished the match outshooting the Saints 11-4, and 5-1 in shots on frame.

The 96th-minute golden-goal winner sends Tech to the Elite 8, where they will face 2-seed Spring Arbor of Michigan (18-1-1) on Thursday at 2 pm pacific time.

With the victory, it is of note that the Lady Owls are now unbeaten in their last 15 matches.
