#10 Oregon Tech 1
#2 Spring Arbor (Mich.) 0
Heading into Thursday's match, the 10-seeded Lady Owls had more to prove with the opportunity to upset the 2nd-ranked team in the country.
Slated to face 2-seed Spring Arbor in the elite 8, Tech was once again playing with house money as the Lady Owls were making their first ever appearance at this juncture.
In the first half, each side came out with a resolute defensive shape, limiting the opportunities for either team's attacker to see a clear chance.
After the first half, each side was only able to muster a few shots, with the Lady Cougars totalling two shots and the Lady Owls totalling just one.
After a scoreless first 45 minutes, Tech turned it on in the second half, creating chances that forced Spring Arbor onto their back foot.
After 59 minutes of back-and-forth defense,
Amanda Seward broke through, redirecting a ball inside the box into the upper corner.
The movement for Tech came directly off a corner and after Seward saw her initial shot deflected, the second opportunity fell right to her feet and she made no mistake.
The goal for the junior marks her third of the season, but none more important than the one that sends Tech to the Final Four.
Tech would continue to defend at a high level for the remainder of the second half, eventually seeing out a 1-0 victory.
After a slow offensive start to the opening period, Tech turned it on to outshoot the Cougars 6-2 in the final 45 minutes.
Tech's aggressiveness pays off as the Lady Owls will continue their dream run on Saturday.
