Owls Make Quick Work of Knights

PORTLAND, Ore. – In a match that took less than hour to play, Oregon Tech (12-4, 8-3 CCC) earned a quick 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-7, 25-11) of the Knights of Warner Pacific (1-10 CCC, 1-13) on Bart Valentine Court.

For the match the Owls hit at a .567 clip, while holding the Knights to a low .143 percentage. Tech hit for a season high .706 percentage in the second set alone.

"Absolutely stunning performance tonight," said head coach Ken Murczek. "In over 30 years of being involved in the sport I have never been a part of team that hit for this high of a percentage over the course of the match: set 1 .560, set 2 .706, set 3 .542 and .591 for the match. 44 kills 5 errors on 66 attempts. In addition, we had the best serving performance I have ever scene with 14 aces and only 3 errors. Incredibly proud how well the team executed this evening. Time to enjoy a day off and then start preparing for Southern Oregon on Wednesday."

Tech held a huge 44 to 22 advantage in kills led by Kaylin Talonen who tied a career high with 10 kills, followed by senior Nicole Reyes with eight kills and Faith Houck-Wylie adding 7 kills.

Tech's Ashley Ripplinger led the Owls with a game high five aces as the Owls held a 14-2 edge.

Brooke Cassidy once again held down the middle with a game high 20 assists.

The Owls will play at Southern Oregon University on Wednesday in Ashland before hosting LC-State and Walla Walla University this Friday and Saturday respectively.
