LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Oregon Tech women's soccer team got a little revenge on Friday night. After falling to Eastern Oregon on penalty kicks in the NAIA National Championship a year ago, Tech got a little revenge as they upset the No.18 team in the NAIA, 2-0 Friday night at Community Stadium.
"Tonight was a very hard fought game against a top team in Eastern," said head coach
Casey Tate. "The women gave everything in this game to get the result. I couldn't be more proud of the effort each of them gave tonight."
After a scoreless first half, Oregon Tech (9-2, 6-1 CCC) scored the game's first goal seven minutes into the second frame as
Nyah Kendall scored off a pass from
Kiah Wetzell (#1 Pictured) finding the back of the net for the eventual game-winner.
Wetzell then took an
Amanda Seward pass and scored in the 73
rd minute giving tech the 2-0 win.
Tech held a big 15-5 advantage for the game in shots and a 9-4 edge in shots on frame.
For the Owls, it was their 9
th shutout of the season and 5
th in conference play.
Tech will next travel to Caldwell, Idaho on Saturday for a game against College of Idaho at 5:30 PM Pacific.
