KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – #12 Oregon Tech (21-6, 11-6 CCC) took down Walla Walla University (6-21, 4-13 CCC) 101-83 on Friday night at Danny Miles Court with a team effort as five double-digit scorers overcame a career-high 42 points from KiAndre Gaddy of the Wolves.
"I thought Walla Walla did a great job of exploiting us in the second half," said Head Coach
Justin Parnell. "They are really well coached and Gaddy is an absolute stud."
Sophomore
Matt Van Tassell led the Owls on a 12-3 run out of the gate, scoring seven points in the effort and capping the surge with a long-range basket. The Wolves followed up 10-2 to get back in play, but Tech held the lead and ended the half on a 48-32 lead.
Oregon Tech opened the second half on a 9-1 run, continuing their dominance. Walla Walla attempts – including 12-4 and 15-5 runs – were cut short by the Owls, who held their buffer through the end of the game.
After being confined to the sidelines due to an injury, senior
Tyler Hieb led the Hustlin' Owls in his second game back, scoring 21 points that included two three-pointers. Junior Garrett Albrecht followed with 18 points and seven rebounds, and senior
Mitchell Fink notched 17 points dropping six assists. Van Tassell and junior
Harrison Steiger rounded off double-digit scorers with 12 each.
Sophomore
Lachlan McKimm led Tech's rebounding effort with nine, helping the Hooter on the way to a 39-24 advantage.
For the Wolves, Zayne Browning followed Gaddy's career high scoring with 18 points and five steals. Dylan Browning tallied nine points and five assists, and Gaddy and Browning each grabbed six boards.
Oregon Tech scored a 36-12 advantage from the bench and held a 20-13 assisting edge. The Owls also led 50-28 in the paint.
The Hustling' Owls will square off against Walla Walla again tomorrow night at Danny Miles Court, with tip-off at 9:30 pm. After that, the team will finish up regular season play with games on the 21
st and 22
nd against Warner Pacific University and Multnomah, with both games starting at 7:30 pm at Danny Miles Court.
