MEDFORD, Ore. – The No. 8 ranked Lady Owls opened up their 2020 season on Saturday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field with a sweep of Pacific University, scoring a 6-2 victory in the first game and a 4-0 shutout in the nightcap.

After an uneventful first, Oregon Tech opened things up in the second with two runs on singles from senior
Baylee Wyscaver and junior
Logan Nunes.
The team lengthened their lead in the fourth as a
Maddie Deverna double sent two across home plate. Another double from
Neenah Pangilinan scored a third run and a fourth came from a fielding error, sending the Owls to a 6-0 advantage.
Tech defense held the Boxers scoreless for most of the game, but PCU was able to add two runs in the top of the seventh on a Montana Vaught double, bringing the final score to 6-2.
Vaught led Pacific with two hits on three attempts, while Nicole Martinez and Jill Uyeda each added a single hit to the effort.
Junior
Aubrie Businger scored two hits for the Lady Owls and scored two runs. Pangilinan hit 2-of-3 and Wyscaver, Nunes, and Deverna each notched a single hit in the victory.

Tech opened up the second game with a Pangilinan solo homer in the first inning.
Strong defense from both sides held the next three innings scoreless until the Owls broke the drought in the fifth with a single from Businger that scored two. A second single from Wyscaver put the the Owls up 4-0.

Emily McAdams helped hold the Boxers scoreless for the entirety of the game. Pangilinan hit 3-of-3 on the night and scored two runs, while junior
McKenna Armantrout, Businger, and Wyscaver each reached base safely.
The Lady Owls will travel to Redding, next weekend to continue their season with games against Simpson University and Dominican University of California on Saturday at 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, respectively and a doubleheader against Simpson on Sunday with games taking place at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
