RIVERSIDE Calif.- Oregon Tech Baseball finished off a six game road trip with a doubleheader split with La Sierra University on Sunday. The Owls would emerge victorious in game one, 7-3 but fall in game two, 5-3.
Game One: Oregon Tech 7 La Sierra University 3
Oregon Tech would strike first in the second inning by scoring two runs on an RBI single by
Micah Jio. La Sierra would stay quiet due to great pitching and defense by the Owls until the 4th inning where they would score two runs, tying the game at 2. The Owls would come back in the fifth with a vengeance, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits. One of those hits being a two run tater by
Andy Schubert. Attempting to answer the previous 4 run inning, La Sierra plated one run of their own. But it wasn't enough to halt the Hooter Express from scoring one more run in the 7th on a
Kai Fong sacrifice fly. The final score would turn out to 7-3 Oregon Tech. The Owls finished the game with 7 runs on 12 hits and no errors. With the win, the Hustlin' Owls improve to 4-5 on the year.
Game Two: La Sierra University 5 Oregon Tech 3
The Owls would not be as fortunate on the offensive end of the ball in the second game on Sunday afternoon. Only having 5 hits in the second, 7-inning, contest. Oregon Tech would strike first as
Micah Jio was able to score in the 1st inning. However, La Sierra would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the same inning. La Sierra would score again in the 4th inning to take a one run lead over Oregon Tech.
Josh Kallstrom would hit an RBI single in the 6th to score
Kai Fong. Jio would assist in adding to the total column in the 7th as he hit a single that scored Schubert. That would be all of the scoring for the Owls in the contest. La Sierra would score three more runs in the 8th to make the final score 5-3. Oregon Tech falls to 4-6 on the season.
Oregon Tech looks forward to their next matchup on the 16th as they take on William Jessup in doubleheaders on the 16th and 17th.
