OLYMPIA, Wash. – Oregon Tech scored once in each half to defeat the Evergreen State College 2-1 on Saturday evening at Black Hills High School. With the win, the Hustlin' Owls secure a spot in the CCC postseason tournament presented by US Bank, which begins November 12
th in Springfield, Oregon.
"Having inherited this group right before the season, this finish for the boys is very meaningful to me," said Head Coach
Brandon Porter. "The guys should be very proud of their performance today and performances throughout the season. Now we can rest and recover and prepare for the post season. Congratulations fellas; go Owls!!"
The Geoducks scored first as Mitchell Balmer scored in the 13
th minute on a Tino Pantaleon assist.
However, sophomore
Jack Warner struck back just two minutes later for the Owls, tying the score off an assist from senior
Lucas Hale.
Warner scored the game winning goal for Oregon Tech in the 79
th minute with help from Hale and senior
Daniel Blessinger, leaving Evergreen with little time to add a second goal of their own.
The Owls outshot the Geoducks 12-9, though both teams shot 4 on target.
Seniors
Joey Driessen and
Cade Roske each added two shots for Tech. Sophomore
Jake Mitchell and Blessinger each shot 1-of-2 on target and Warner scored off of his only two shots.
Balmer led Evergreen State, shooting 2-of-4 on frame and making the sole goal. Jayson Ray followed, shooting 1-of-3.
The Hustlin' Owls will play in the CCC Quarter Final on Tuesday, November 12
th in Springfield, Oregon, with the time and opponent still to be decided.
