Owls Struggle Against Eagles

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University and Oregon Tech each had seven shots on goal in their match on Friday afternoon, but the Owls were shutout by Eagle goalie Alexander Thiehofe and fell 2-0.

"Unfortunately the men didn't show up for the whole 90 minutes," said Head Coach Brandon Porter. "They played inspired soccer in the second half but by then it was too late. I was proud of their discipline in the second half and spirit, so hopefully we can carry that over to tomorrow and punch our ticket."

Northwest opened with strong offense, outshooting Tech 10-5 in the first quarter.

Jordan Travis scored the first goal for the Eagles in the 22nd minute off of an assist from Gian Herrera and Elliot Misic added the second in the 36th off an assist from Kyle Han, giving them the game-winning advantage.

The Owls outshot Northwest 7-5 in the second half but were unable to get past their defense to score.

Sophomore Jack Warner shot 3-of-3 on target for the Hustlin' Owls and was followed by freshman John Sarna and senior Cade Roske who each shot 1-of-2 on goal.

Northwest was led by Travis, who shot 3-of-3 on target, including his goal. Misic shot 2-of-3 and Herrera added three shots to the total.

The Hustlin' Owls will play their final regular season game in Olympia, Washington tomorrow at 3:00pm against The Evergreen State College before entering the Cascade Collegiate Tournament, which starts on November 12th. The Owls are currently 6th in the CCC standings.
