Lady Owls Shutout Beacons

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Tech Keeper Jenna Stiehr added her ninth shutout of the season on Friday night, as the Lady Owls took down Northwest Christian 2-0 in Cascade Conference play.

Tech (8-2-3, 5-0-2 CCC) – which was named CCC Team of the Week after an upset win over No. 6 Eastern Oregon University on the 11th – played strong defense in the game, holding the Beacons (2-12-0, 1-8-0 CCC) to only two shots while racking up 36 of their own, of which 10 were on target.

Senior Salyna Blue scored the first goal from distance after beating a defender in the midfield in the 22nd minute. Freshman Maddie Miller followed up with the second goal in the 24th, scoring off another shot from Blue.

"We are happy with the three points but need to be a lot better tomorrow to sweep the weekend," said head coach Brandon Porter. "The ladies know their focus and resolve must be at a much higher level against Corban."

Freshman Kyra Cambra added six shots in the game and Miller added five. Hailey Satyna, Amanda Seward and Abigail Herbert each added four and Nyah Kendall shot 2-of-3 on target.

Northwest goalie Katie Hastings earned eight saves in the game.

The Lady Owls will continue north to take on Corban University in Salem on Saturday at 3:00pm before returning to Klamath Falls to challenge Multnomah University and Warner Pacific University on the 25th and 26th, with both games taking place at 12:00pm at the OIT Soccer Field.
