Lady Owls Capture William Jessup Invite Title with Sweep on Day 2

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Oregon Tech improved to 4-1 on the season and won the William Jessup Invite after downing UC Merced 3-0 in an early match this morning and knocking off the host Warriors in the title game 3 sets to 1 winning the William Jessup Invitational at Warrior Arena.
 
"I am very proud of the way the team played today against two very worthy opponents, said Head Coach Andrew Clifton. "We have been growing every game and every practice. This team has a lot of potential and I am excited to see how far we go. Hats off to UC Merced and William Jessup for pushing us, they have good teams and great coaches. We will take a day of rest and head to Southern Oregon for Saturday's games."
 
Match 2- Oregon Tech 3-1 (31-29, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22) over William Jessup (5-3)

The first set was tied 16-times as the two teams battled back and forth before OIT finally grabbed an edge 30-29 on a Chase Bohman kill. Freshman Nicole Reyes would then give the Owls the hard fought 31-29 win with one of her three aces in the match.
 
The Warriors won 5 out of the final 6-points in the second set to break a 21-21 tie as they tied the match at 1-1.
 
Tech then answered, winning the final two sets as they forced 13 William Jessup errors to win the match 3 sets to 1.
 
Bohman once again dominated the net with a game high 20-kills with Camryn Johnson adding 10-kills and Melody Edwards chipping in 5-kills.
 
Sophomore Jaime Toedtemeier led the Owls with a game high 36-assists while Bailey Nelson locked down the Owls defense tallying 26-digs.
 
 
Match 1-Oregon Tech 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21) over UC Merced  
 
Oregon Tech had .212 kill percentage while holding the Bearcats to just .162 in the match.
 
Bohman had 12 kills, Edwards added 8 kills and Johnson 7 kills to lead the Owls offensively.  
 
Toedtemeier led the Owls with a game high 31 assists.
 
Bohman had 19-digs while Nelson had 9-digs to lead the OIT defense .
 
The Lady Owls will play Simpson University at 1:00 pm and Lewis-Clark State at 5:00 pm this Saturday in Ashland, Oregon at the SOU Invite. Live stats and video available at www.Oregontechowls.com
