Oregon Tech Sweeps Eastern Oregon

MEDFORD, Ore.-  Oregon Tech swept Eastern Oregon University Sunday, 4-1 and 4-0 at US Cellular Fields. OIT improves to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in CCC Play with EOU falling to 1-2 in CCC action and 4-8 overall.
 
Oregon Tech got stellar pitching from Senior Kelly Scott in game one as she threw a 5-hitter and Freshman Sarah Abramson in game two who took a no-hitter into the 7th and settle for a 1-hit shutout victory.
 
Game 1: Oregon Tech 4 Eastern Oregon 1 (Conference game)
 
Scott improved to 7-2 on the season with a minuscule 1.23 ERA as she followed up her 2-hit shutout yesterday with a 5-hitter today allowing just 1-run.
 
EOU cut Tech's lead back 2-1 in the top of the 6th only to see three-time All-American Tara Moates blast a 2-run homer to deep center field in the bottom of the frame lifting the Owls to the 4-1 win. Moates had 3-runs batted in for the game.
 
Seven different players all had 1-hit in the win for the Hooter.
 
Lena Richards led EOU with 2-hits in the loss.
 
Game 2 Oregon Tech 4 Eastern Oregon 0 (Non-conference)
 
Abramson had seven strikeouts in the 1-hit shutout for the Owls as she improved to 3-2 on the year.
 
Oregon Tech had 10-hits in the game and was led by Andrea Sotelo who had 3-hits with Kiahna Brown and Jacey Conklin adding 2-hits each in the victory.
 
Ashton Kazmierski gave up 8-hits and 4-runs as she picked up the loss for the Mountaineers.
 
Shevan Defreitas broke up the no-hitter with a single in the top of the seventh for the only EOU hit of the game.
 
Oregon Tech will travel to Caldwell, Idaho for a four game series next weekend at College of Idaho.
 
Eastern Oregon is scheduled to host Northwest Christian University next weekend in La Grande, Oregon.
