ROCKLIN, Calif. -  Oregon Tech scored a goal in each half on the way to a 2-1 non-conference victory over host William Jessup Saturday night at Rocklin High School. Oregon Tech evens its record at 1-1 on the year with the Warriors falling to 0-3.

The Hooter took a quick 1-0 lead just 3 minutes into the contest when Nancy Arroyo found Cassidy Gosvener on a breakaway along the left side; Gosvener slotted a nice shot into the lower right of the goal to give OIT the 1-0 lead.

Tech took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break with a slight 6-5 lead in shots.

William Jessup tied the game in the 70th minute a goal by Kailee Soares.

Tech's Kylie Cowell intercepted a back pass by a WJU defender intended for their keeper. Cowell then chipped the ball over the Warrior keeper for the game winning goal in the 84th minute.

For the game OIT outshot WJU 15-10 with a 12-5 edge in shots on goal.

Head Coach Brandon Porter on his teams win, "Well we certainly worked hard for that great result. We generated a lot of good opportunities and made the most of the ones we needed. We need to tidy a few things up in the midfield but I think our mids certainly put in the work for us. We had some solid performances from our veterans and some surprisingly good games from our newcomers. Overall, a great team result and now we can focus on a really quality opponent in UC Merced."

The Owls will stay in California and play at UC Merced at noon on Monday before returning to Oregon Tech for their home opener against Humboldt State next Friday, September 8 at noon.
