Brandon Porter

Brandon Porter finished his fifth year as Head Coach of the Hustlin’ Owls Women’s Soccer program in the Fall of 2019.  The 2019 season was a major success with the Women’s Soccer Team capturing their first Cascade Conference Championship with an undefeated conference record of 10-0-2 and an overall record of 13-4-3.  The ladies fell in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament to Marymount of California 2-1 in the Santa Barbara Bracket.  The 2019 squad featured four 1st Team All CCC selections, one 2nd Team All CCC selection, and 2 Honorable Mentions.  The Owls were ranked as high as #24 in the NAIA during the 2019 Season and with the team’s success, Porter was also voted as the 2019 Cascade Conference Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

In addition to the Women’s team, Porter also was the Head Men’s Soccer Coach for 2019, helping guide the team to a program best record of 10-5-4, falling to Eastern Oregon University in the Quarterfinals of the Cascade Conference Tournament in a PK shootout.  The 2019 team had four All Cascade Conference selections with Joey Driessen leading the way as a 1st Team selection, Mitchell Jillson and John Sarna as 2nd Team selections, and Cade Roske as an Honorable Mention pick.

In 2018, Coach Porter led the Lady Owls to an 11-4-3 overall record and an 8-3-1 mark in the CCC, placing the team 3rd in the thirteen team conference.  Porter had six players selected to the CCC All Conference Team including three 1st Team selections in senior forward Cassidy Gosvener, junior goalkeeper Jenna Stiehr, and sophomore defender Amy Morikawa.  As a result of the team’s success, Porter was voted the 2018 Cascade Conference Coach of the Year.  The team also had six players selected as NAIA Scholar-Athletes (Junior standing with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA).

The 2017 season was a great success as the Lady Owls finished the season with a 10-7 overall record and an 8-3 mark in conference play, finishing 3rd in the Cascade Conference standings and entering the Conference Tournament as a top seed.  There were six players selected to the All-Conference teams, with junior forward Cassidy Gosvener leading the way with a 1st Team selection and senior captains Brenna Bogle and Megan Green selected to the 2nd Team.

Prior to Oregon Tech Porter spent four seasons as an Assistant Coach at Northern Arizona University (NCAA Division I, Big Sky Conference) serving the women’s soccer program. While at NAU, Porter helped run all aspects of the program, including practice planning and execution, recruiting, game management, video analysis, player management, equipment, travel, and was the Camp Director. He also worked extensively with the goalkeepers and backline, helping guide the team to double digit win seasons in 2013 and 2014.  Porter helped an NAU program from going 3-9-7 during his first year on staff in 2011, to winning a Big Sky Conference Championship and an NCAA Division I Tournament berth against Pac-12 opponent Arizona State University with a 12-6-4 record in his final 2014 season.

Prior to arriving at Northern Arizona University, Porter was a standout player at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, starting as a defender for the Boxers all four years and serving for two-years as the teams’ captain. Porter finished his collegiate career as a three-time All-Northwest Conference selection (2007-09), earning First Team All-West Region honors and a NSCAA Division III All-American nominee as a senior in 2009. Porter capped a brilliant career by being named the 2009 Pacific University Male Athlete of the Year for his accomplishments on the field.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Coach Porter also has extensive club experience.  He served as a staff coach for Willamette United Soccer Club in Portland, Ore. for five years (2006-2010) working in the Technical Skills, Player Development and Classic Programs. From 2010-2015 he served as a Staff Coach as well as the Academy Director for the Flagstaff Soccer Club (AZ) in addition to his duties at NAU.

Porter, a native of Canby, Ore., earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Pacific University in 2009 and has completed coursework towards a Master's in pre-doctoral Psychology at NAU. Porter has his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Coaching License as well as his United Soccer Coaches National Diploma, and Goalkeeping Level 1 and 2 Diplomas.
