2020-21 marks the second season for Ryan Beesley as an assistant coach for the Oregon Tech women’s basketball program.
Before joining head coach Scott Meredith in 2019-20, Beesley logged two successful seasons as an assistant coach at Southern Oregon. There, he helped lead the Raiders to a combined 55-10 record, one Cascade Collegiate Conference title, and two trips to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II Championship Tournament, including a sweet 16 appearance in 2017-18.
An alum of Oregon Tech with a degree in Applied Psychology, Beesley played in 72 games in two seasons (2007 to 2009) for Hall of Fame coach Coach Danny Miles where he helped the Hustlin’ Owls win the 2008 NAIA DII National Championship, a 2009 Cascade Conference championship and an appearance in the NAIA Sweet 16.
Prior to Oregon Tech, Beesley spent two years (2005 to 2007) at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, California where he earned his associate’s degree. Playing two years for the Eagles, he averaged 18 points per game while earning Golden Valley First-Team All-Conference honors in 2007.
A native of New Zealand, Beesley grew up in Auckland where he played for Westlake Boys High School and the North Harbour Basketball Club, earning a 2nd place finish in the 2002 New Zealand National Tournament. Beesley was a member of the 2003 Junior Tall Black’s and earned a roster spot with the North Harbour Heat. In 2011, he returned to New Zealand to play in the NBL for the Taranaki Mountain Airs.
Beesley will direct the Lady Owls strength & conditioning programs and lead individual player development. Other areas of emphasis will be on statistical analysis, scouting, and defensive systems. He will also supervise the new student recreation center and intramurals.
