Biography

2017 Season: As a junior, Sai played in all 14 games for the Owls. He picked up 2 goals on the season, including one that sealed a win on the road at Northwest. His role as a center mid helped his team to a 5th place finish in the CCC, with an overall record of 8-8-1. He was a CCC Scholar Athlete and NAIA Academic All American, while his teammates named him the Most Improved Player in 2017. 

2016 Season: As a sophomore, Matthew played in 13 games for the Owls, starting in 3 of them.

2015 Season: In his freshman season, Matthew played in 8 games while picking up 1 start for the Owls.

Club Team: Riggers SC

Notable Info: Matthew was a 2nd Team OIA East All-Star defender in his senior season and was also All-Hawaii Football Honorable Mention Special Teams.

Coach Munhall comments: “Matthew is a good athlete that has great finesse with the ball. He has played in some very competitive leagues in Hawaii and will look to help out in the defense and midfield for the Owls.”

Matthew is the son of Michael and Sherri Sai, and plans to major in Communication Studies at Oregon Tech.
