Biography

2016 Season: Being voted as a team captain in entering his junior season, Ian was one of three players to play and start in all 19 games for the Owls in the 2016 campaign. Being deployed as one of the anchors in our back line, he helped the team achieve the best overall season record in program history at 9-8-2, also making the CCC conference tournament for the first time in program history. Ian was a 2016 NAIA Scholar Athlete and CCC Scholar Athlete. 

2015 Season: Ian played in all 17 games for the Owls, starting in 15 of them. He tallied 3 goals on the season and was voted by his teammates as the "Black Boot" award winner as the teams most valuable defender. Ian was also a CCC-Scholar Athlete. 

2014 Season: Ian played in all 18 games for the Owls, starting in 16 of them. He tallied 3 goals on the season and was voted by his teammates as the "Black Boot" award winner as the teams most valuable defender.

Club Team: Eastside Timbers FC

Notable Info: Tarnovsky, a 6-3 midfielder at Clackamas High School, was Team Captain and voted MVP the past two seasons for the Cavaliers. Tarnovsky was a two-time 1st team All-Three Rivers League selection in both 2012 & 2013, while leading his CHS team to the 6A State semifinals in his junior season.
Tarnovsky received many club accolades including Team Captain the past three years, while also leading his teams to the semifinals at each of the 2013 & 2014 Oregon State Cups, and 2011 US Club National Cup, to go with a US Club NW Regional championship in 2011.

Coach Munhall comments: “Ian is an outstanding young player that will bring leadership and a strong work ethic to our team. We are excited for him to bring his wealth of experience into our program and expect him to make an immediate impact for us.”

Ian is the son of Steve and Sarah Tarnovsky and plans to major in biology at Oregon Tech beginning this fall.
