2016 Season: In his junior season, Garrett was an anchor for the Owls playing and starting in 14 games before picking up a season ending injury. Byrd picked up CCC Honorable Mention honors on the season, while also being named the CCC and NAIA National Player of the Week, after Tech upset the No. 11 nationally ranked Corban U. by a score of 2-1. 
His teammates picked him as the "Black Boot" (top defender) winner while also voting him a team captain for the 2017 campaign. 
Garrett is also a CCC and NAIA Scholar Athlete. 

2015 Season: As a sophomore transfer, Garrett played in 15 games picking up 11 starts, typically playing in the backline for the Owls. 

Prior to Oregon Tech - 

Previous College: St. John's University (MN) - Garrett played his freshman season as a defender for the Johnnies, featuring in 14 games. 

Club Team: Rogue Valley Timbers FC

Notable Info: In his senior year, Garrett earned 6A League Player of the Year honors at North Medford HS, while also being named 1st Team All State and 1st Team All League. 

Coach Munhall Comments: "Garrett is a tremendous athlete and soccer player. He has a great understanding of the game both as a striker and as a center back. We tried to bring Byrd to Oregon Tech as a freshman, but he decided that he wanted an experience away from his home state, Oregon. After one season away, Garrett decided it was time to return home and reached out to us here at Tech. We could not be happier to add a quality leader to our roster. Garrett will help us both in the backline and/or attack as needed."

Garrett is the son of Scott and Stacy Byrd and plans to study Applied Psychology at Oregon Tech.
