Josh Wetzler

Josh Wetzler begins his fifth year as an assistant coach for Oregon Tech. Originally from Perth, Australia, he and head coach Justin Parnell were teammates during the 2008-09 season where the duo never lost a game at Danny Miles Court. Josh’s wife, Marcie, played four seasons of volleyball and a year of basketball during her time at Oregon Tech from 2002-05.

Since joining the Oregon Tech Men’s Basketball staff the program has seen tremendous improvement with their interior play. Under his tutelage, Garret Albrecht (2020) and Andrew Weber (2018) have been recognized with Honorable Mention All-Conference honors, and Bryan Beard (2017) received NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors. Since joining the staff, Coach Wetzler has a career record of 100-36, including 4 trips to the NAIA Division II National Tournament, a CCC championship and an NAIA Division II National Championship game appearance in 2019.

Wetzler, a four-year starter at Tech from 2005-09, helped the Hustlin’ Owls to their second NAIA Division II basketball crown in 2008 where he was also named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team. Wetzler ranks No. 6 in both all-time rebounds at NAIA Division II tournament play (105) and rebounds in a single tournament (56). Wetzler averaged 9.4 points and 9.3 rebounds his final two seasons at Tech, where he also earned Cascade Collegiate Conference honorable mention honors. Wetzler is No. 2 in Career Field Goal Percentage (.673) at Oregon Tech on 396-of-588 shooting and No. 2 in Career Rebounds with 1026. Wetzler holds the Owls’ single-season field goal percentage record after connecting on 72.9 percent of his attempts in 2008.

Following his career at Oregon Tech Wetzler continued competing abroad, notably in Germany as well as in his home country of Australia. Wetzler also competed for the Seattle Mountaineers in the ABA, as well in the Jamal Crawford Seattle Pro-Am.

"I am very grateful to Coach Parnell and the staff at Oregon Tech for the opportunity to assist the men's basketball program," said Wetzler. “The Tech basketball program and the people of the Klamath Basin had such a major impact on my life, I truly look forward to the opportunity in helping athletes share in similar experiences." Wetzler also serves as Assistant Athletic Director - Director of Marketing & Business Development.
